Adams & Hayes Law was founded in 2000 by partners Therese A. Adams, Esq. and Susan E. Hayes, Esq. Ms. Susan Hayes is now retired from the firm. Ms. Adams, with 30 years experience in contract drafting and negotiation, focuses on Estate Planning, Probate, Trust Administration and Conservatorships. Therese A. Adams, Esq.

Ms. Adams is a wife, mother and grandmother. She is also a daughter. She is aware of the many issues facing families and is able to assist in finding solutions to those challenges.

Ms. Adams has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Business Administration from California Coast University. She received her Juris Doctor from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento and holds the Associate of Risk Management (ARM) certification from the Insurance Institute of America.

Ms. Adams is a member of the State Bar of California and the Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of California. She is also a member of the Bar Associations in Sacramento, Placer, Yuba, and Sutter counties, in addition to the Tahoe-Truckee Bar Association and a member of Women Lawyers of Sacramento. Ms. Adams is a California Licensed Private Fiduciary and has served as Pro Tem Judge for the County of Placer.

Ms. Adams is outside Counsel to the Placer Land Trust, a private non-profit dedicated to the preservation and conservation of open space in Placer County. Ms Adams is pleased to support KVIE, public television.

Ms. Adams provided the legal work for Placer Land Trust on the acquisition of the Taylor Ranch.

Staff

Beverly Barranti

Ms. Beverly Barranti joined Therese Adams in January 2002 as bookkeeper. Promoted to Office and Accounting Manager in July 2004, Ms. Barranti is responsible for Human Resources, Accounting and Office Administration for Adams & Hayes Law. In addition, Ms. Barranti is responsible for scheduling, travel arrangements and maintenance of office policy and procedures.

Prior to joining Adams & Hayes Law, Ms. Barranti retired after working 30 years for a transportation company in San Francisco, CA. During her tenure with that company she held management positions in Human Resources, Accounting, Purchasing, Employee Benefits, Accounts Receivable/Payable and Training. Ms. Barranti helped set up offices for this company in 30 states during her career.

Marilyn Clark

Ms. Marilyn Clark, Esq., joined the firm as an associate attorney in October, 2010. Ms. Clark provides legal services primarily in the areas of conservatorships and Estate Planning.

Ms. Clark has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University at Monterey Bay. She received her Juris Doctor from Monterey college of Law, Monterey, California.

Ms. Clark is a member of the State Bar of California and the Placer county Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Clark provides pro-bono work for Placer Superior courts, Office of the Family Law Facilitator, in the area of guardianships.

Prior to joining Adams & Hayes Law, Ms. Clark had a 25 year career in public service with the Monterey County Department of Social Services, where she held the position of Assistant Director at the time she retired.

Ben Eagleton

Mr. Eagleton joined the firm as a part-time practice assistant in September, 2010, while completing an Associate of Arts Degree in Legal Assisting. With the completion of his California Paralegal Certification, Mr. Eagleton began working full-time with the firm as a Legal Assistant in 2011.

Mr. Eagleton is commissioned by the California Secretary of State as a Notary Public, and assists the firm with Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Probate, and Elder Law.

Mr. Eagleton continues his legal education and is enrolled at Lincoln Law School of Sacramento’s evening Juris Doctor program

Mrs. Sherri Handley joined the firm in June 2009 as a Practice Assistant in the Trust Administration and Estate Planning departments. With her twelve years experience, she provides valuable technical legal services for our clients. Mrs. Handley’s prior work experience includes work with firms that specialize in Estate and Administration legal services.

With an Associates degree in Legal Office Procedures, Mrs. Handley continues her professional training with continuing education courses that focus on Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Administration.

With the establishment of Adams & Hayes Law, Ms. Adams has been committed to supporting local non-profits and other worthy organizations by providing pro-bono counsel and legal advice. Beneficiaries of these services include: Lincoln Arts, Lincoln Volunteer Firemen's Association, WPCARE, Clover Valley Foundation, Neighbors Indeed, Lincoln Hills Foundation, Light House Resource Center, Community Foundation of Lincoln, Placer Land Trust, March of Dimes, Friends of Lincoln Kids, Rotary Club of Lincoln, Neighborhood Watch, Placer Arts, Alzheimer's Support Group, Field Haven, Soroptimist International, Lincoln Public Library, and Fruitvale School.
